Pizza Planet is Normal Again, Halloween Deets Galore, and All the Disneyland News You Should Care About This Week
For the week of June 3, 2026.
It’s a big week for stuff you’ve actually been waiting for (as for me, a week when I get my next trip to DLR in!).
Let’s get into it.
🍕 Pizza Planet Is Back Like it’s 2019
Six years later, Alien Pizza Planet has returned to something resembling its pre-pandemic self. You can now just walk up and order — slices, pasta, salads, whatever — without having to open the app and stare at a return window like you’re waiting for a ride.
Mobile ordering still exists, but it’s been moved to a separate “Pizza Planet Express” page just for whole pizzas. The grab-and-go flow is back, and somehow it feels really good.
🎃 Halloween Details Just Dropped, and There’s a Lot
Disney finally let the pumpkin out of the bag on Halloween Time 2026.
The broad strokes: the season runs August 21-October 31, with Oogie Boogie Bash kicking off a few days early on August 18 and running a record 33 nights through Halloween. General tickets go on sale June 18, with Magic Key presales starting June 16.
The biggest new thing at the Bash is Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake, a brand-new Haunted Mansion street party coming to California Adventure. Sounds promising. The tradeoff, though, is that the Frightfully Fun Parade is not returning — it’s nowhere to be found in any official announcement, so consider that gonzos.
Beyond the Bash: Haunted Mansion Holiday is back (new gingerbread house design in the ballroom this year, as always), Cars Land becomes Radiator Screams again, and Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark returns to Avengers Campus each evening. Mickey and friends are also getting new Halloween costumes this year: harlequin patterns, orange and black, the whole deal.
🎠 The Carousel of Progress is Progressing
Alright, this is a Disney World thing, but as a fan of Disney nostalgia, how could we not include it? Plus, technically this attraction was at Disneyland for six years before being moved to Magic Kingdom in 1973.
The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow will finally have some new scenes, instead of jumping from the ‘40s straight to the modern age. We’ll now get to reminisce about the 1960s and 1980s, too, as well as see Grandpa and Grandma deal with the rise of the internet. I can only assume that means one of them will get deepfaked into a financial scam.
I get all the people freaking out about how this will ruin their childhoods, but consider this: Your childhood was ruined long ago by lots of other things in life. Seeing an animatronic ‘80s scene is going to be awesome.
🔍 Rumor Check
Is Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters getting a Toy Story 5 makeover?
Toy Story 5 hits theaters June 19, and Buzz has been dark since April 13 with no return date. That’s a suspiciously long “routine” refurbishment. Speculation is floating around about a limited overlay timed to the film.
Nothing official, Disney’s been quiet.
4/10 — the timing is right, plus WDW’s version of Buzz got a pretty significant makeover, but it could just as easily reopen with the normal refurb stuff and call it a day.
⚡ Quick Hits
Ever wondered what it’s like to be one of those VIPs that gets their own guide and everything? Me too. This writer tells us what it’s like.
Riders on Haunted Mansion evacuated — which isn’t a story in and of itself, but this one’s making the rounds because guests had to get themselves out of the vehicles, as captured in a video posted to Facebook. Like most things posted online, it apparently became very controversial. It all seems fairly benign to me (and I’ll give the benefit of the doubt that any guest unable to do things themselves were eventually helped out), but hey, now you know.
Pirates update — Queue repainting was spotted June 2, so work is happening. Still closed into July with no official return date.
Park hopper restriction is gone — As of June 9, the 11 a.m. rule is dead. Hop whenever you want.
Soarin’ switchover — Over California ends June 30; Across America starts July 2. Last few weeks for the California version.
OBB presale reminder — Magic Key holders: June 16 (Inspire) and June 17 (all others). General public: June 18.
King Arthur Carrousel closing July 6 — Right after 4th of July weekend. No return date.
World of Color – ONE Is Coming Back — This one was a surprise. World of Color – ONE, which has been dark for 15 months, is returning to Paradise Bay on August 10 for a limited run through Halloween season.
What did I miss? Give me a shout and let me know.
Or even better: What are you most looking forward to on your next trip to Disneyland?
