This Week's Nerdy Disney News (1/31)
The Lunar New Year celebration at Disneyland is on, the future of Galactic Starcruiser, and more.
We’re back with another edition of cutting out the junk and giving you the nerdy Disney news you should care about in the final week-ish of January 2025.
The Former Star Wars Hotel is Getting Less Awesome
When Galactic Starcruiser was announced, I started planning to sell all my worldly possessions and just move in there permanently. Although, I’m not sure that would have covered even one night.
The sadly shuttered building for the ambitious attraction/hotel finally has a potential new use: offices. Pretty lame if you ask me. Although it’s said the offices will house Imagineers, so I guess that’s cool?
Definitely worth a billion dollars.
Lunar New Year at Disneyland Sounds Delicious
I want to eat it all. Sure, there are parades and character appearances from Mulan and Mushu, but the best way to celebrate the Year of the Snake has to be noshing on some of these insanely awesome-sounding snacks:
Strawberry Milk Tea Macaron
Quesabirria Eggroll with guajillo pepper consomé
Mandarin Orange Cream Puff
Toasted Sesame and Red Bean Churro (!!)
You can see all the limited-time Lunar New Year food items here.
Rumor: We should have seen Padmé in Obi-Wan Kenobi
At least if you believe insider Jeff Sneider, who claimed on a recent podcast appearance that Natalie Portman filmed some scenes for the miniseries while also filming Thor: Love and Thunder. This might not be much more than a rumor, though — I can’t imagine you’d pay Natalie Portman to come in and then not use the footage…
Quick Hits
The D23 Spotlight Series in February will highlight Indiana Jones Adventure.
Is Disneyland getting less scary?
Apparently Doctor Strange will be in Avengers: Doomsday. Chris Evans, however, will not.
There’s a new animated series featuring Spider-Man on Disney+.
There’s a new tiger cub you can see at Animal Kingdom.
What’d we miss? Let us know!
